Arrival México City

Extremely bumpy take-off from Los Ángeles through rain to emerge above the clouds into sunshine and blue sky.

The landscape across to México City (a flight of a bit over 3 hours - and a further 2 hour time difference) was tremendous: bathed in sunshine, it was dry, arid, mountainous with rivers snaking through valleys and infrequent towns. Total time difference: 17 hours.

México City is at an altitude of 2250 m with a population of over 8 million. It is a busy, chaotic city with a wonderful centro historico which is where we are staying. We checked in about 6 p.m. and had a drink on the balcony overlooking the main square (zócalo).
